Dune of Pyla
Discover Europe’s highest sand dune, the Grande Dune du Pyla, a short drive south of the Bassin d’Arcachon. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see the Pyrenees from the dune’s 107-metre summit and whatever the weather, the views of the ocean, the Bassin and the forest laid out before you make the climb well worthwhile.
La Roque Gageac Medieval Village
An important fortified town in Medieval times, riverside La Roque Gageac remains one of France’s most beautiful villages. Visitors can climb stairways etched in the cliffs for spectacular views across the water from above the rickety old stone houses.
Prehistoparc
The Dordogne region is famous for its ancient prehistoric sites. Five hectares have been transformed to simulate the hunting environment of prehistoric man, constructed on a site where genuine prehistoric remains have been found.
Bordeaux Public Garden
The lush ten hectare park was originally created in the 18th century. A decision was taken to transform it from a mere park to an area which would actively explore nature as a science, which led to the addition of an arboretum, botanical garden, museum and specialist libraries.
